ABOUT THE CUSTOMER

June & Sara

Avatar

June and Sara, a mother-daughter duo, each had an apartment in the same building with the exact same layout. We worked with them both to bring their individual visions to life, creating two peaceful homes that feel connected but distinctly their own. It was a unique project for us, working across two closely linked spaces and showing how small differences can make different facets shine.

PROJECT INTRO

At this point, we’re no strangers to the flats at Queen’s Garden, having styled a few units before. This time around, we simultaneously had two apartments belonging to a mother-daughter duo, each with their own vision of what home means. One belongs to June, the mother. The other belongs to Sara, her daughter. Both wanted peaceful spaces with a modern Zen feeling, but their styles naturally leaned slightly in different directions.

June was drawn to richer colours, warmer textures and a sense of invitation. Her home needed to feel calm, polished and welcoming, with spaces that could work for relaxing, hosting and everyday routines. Sara wanted something lighter and softer, with a Japandi and Korean-inspired feel. Her palette leaned toward creamy, minimal tones, with curved shapes, gentle contrast, and a quieter sense of retreat.

The result is a pair of homes that feel connected, but not identical. Same building, same layout, same starting point, but two very personal outcomes.

THE LIVING ROOMS

JUNE’S LIVING ROOM

For June, the living room needed to do multiple things at once. It became a combined TV area, sitting space and home office, with a sweeping bookcase bringing structure and function to the room. We balanced practical storage with softer details, so the space could feel useful without becoming too busy.

Boucle armchairs, a plush sofa and light wood cabinetry keep the room inviting, while a sleek desk area gives June a proper place to work from home. Diffused hanging lighting softens the whole space, adding a warm evening glow and making the room feel calm, even with several functions working together.

SARA’S LIVING ROOM

Sara’s living room was designed more around downtime. Although the apartment has the same layout as June’s, we oriented the space differently to better suit Sara’s way of life. A curved sofa creates a gentle focal point, while a tall bookshelf and an organically shaped rug form a small reading area just behind it.

The room is all about rounded forms and softer edges. A large standing lamp curves over the sofa, adding both height and intimacy. These details help make the generous living space feel more contained, personal and easy to settle into.

THE DINING ROOMS

JUNE’S DINING ROOM

June’s dining room has a polished, contemporary feel. A statement dark wood cabinet adds depth and texture, grounding the space and giving it a richer tone. The six-seat dining table keeps the room practical for everyday meals and hosting, while two pendant lamps above create a clear focal point.

We also layered table lamps and wall lamps throughout the space, so the apartment feels just as considered in the evening as it does during the day. The overall mood is laid-back but refined, with enough warmth to feel inviting rather than formal.

SARA’S DINING ROOM

In Sara’s apartment, the curved theme continues into the dining area. Soft, rounded dining chairs sit around an abstract-shaped table, keeping the look relaxed and fluid. The palette is lighter here, with creamy tones running through the larger pieces and darker accents added through lighting and accessories.

THE BEDROOMS

JUNE’S BEDROOMS

June’s bedrooms, both guest and master, were kept simple and restful. Plush headboards bring softness, while statement bedside lighting gives each room a clear focal point. The cabinetry and bedside tables are simple, with subtle panel detailing to add texture without overwhelming the rooms.

SARA’S BEDROOM

Sara’s bedroom follows a similar layout, with a small desk and bay window seating, but the mood is lighter and more Japandi-inspired. The walls were painted in a soft butter tone, giving the room warmth without making it feel heavy. The furnishings are simple and grounded, with clean shapes, natural textures and a more minimal feel.

A seated ottoman at the end of the bed adds an everyday practical detail, especially for getting dressed, while also helping the room feel more finished.

What made this project special was the balance between connection and individuality. Both homes began with the same footprint and the same wish for calm, but each apartment was shaped around a different person, routine and sense of style. June’s home feels richer, warmer and more layered. Sara’s feels lighter, softer and more pared back.

Together, they show how much can change through styling, layout, lighting, materials and finishing touches, even when the floor plan stays exactly the same.
