Turnkey Comfort for a Gentleman’s Pad

CHALLENGES

This Yick Fung Building apartment was furnished in a very basic manner, but with mismatching furniture that made the space feel quite bare, uncoordinated and frankly a little cold for our taste.

There was only a single top-down functional light source in the living and dining space. The hallway, while providing a lot of storage space, had too much blank white space that made it uninviting. It was lacking the little details that make a home feel more permanent. That’s where our move-in-ready, turnkey styling came in!

ENTERING THE SPACE
Entrance, hallway & study

We used wall art to break up the space throughout the entrance and hallway, which helped to guide the eyes towards the desk area and into the living and dining area. We added more light sources to this Yick Fung Building apartment by installing floor and table lamps to create distinct moments in the space. We also turned the desk area into a definitive focal point.

LIVING ROOM
Building up from the basics

Working with the existing foundations, we focused on shaping a space that felt complete and ready to live in. Houseplants were placed beside the sofa to soften the edges and subtly conceal the pillar, while also bringing a sense of calm and freshness into the room.

The original coffee table felt out of sync with the rest of the space, so we replaced it with a piece that aligned with the home’s minimal, rustic direction. The brick wall, TV console, and sofa were kept, and layered with an abstract rug to ground the layout and elevate the overall feel.

To finish, we introduced accent cushions and throws to balance the palette and tie everything together, creating a turnkey living room that feels considered, cohesive, and immediately liveable.

DINING ROOM
Fully accessorised with finishing touches

It was all about the details for this area. Besides helping with big items, we also sourced smaller items for the apartment – even down to dining ware and cutleries. We decided to go with dining ware that had a stone texture that echoed our rustic theme, paired with an organic cotton tablecloth, metal napkin rings, tinted vases and black candle holder that tied the whole table setting together.

BEDROOM
From bare to softly layered

With a pared-back starting point, we introduced gentle layers to bring warmth into the room. Textural artworks above the bed add depth, while cushions and a throw soften the overall feel. A little colour, used with intention, goes a long way. The space now feels more cohesive and inviting than it did at the start, a turnkey bedroom designed to settle into from day one.
