Kelly is a mother of three who just relocated her family to a bigger home by the sea. She wanted to create a space for her family to connect whilst also creating personal space to enjoy the sprawling views.

PROJECT INTRO

Moving homes can be stressful, especially with three kids in tow, but for Kelly and her family, relocating to a larger house in Tuen Mun was a strategic choice to be closer to their new school. We were happy to help ease this transition by transforming their new duplex into a seaside sanctuary. We aimed to infuse the space with natural, resort-inspired elements and a few Chinese accents, ultimately creating a coastal haven. This four-bedroom rental now balances playfulness for the kids and peacefulness for the adults.

LIVING ROOM

A space for quality time

Upon entering the living room, the sprawling windows draw the eye to the sea and port beyond, inviting the tranquillity of the outside in. Embracing this theme, we blended natural materials like wood, rattan, and stone with a palette of light woods to unify the space. Sheer curtains offer privacy while welcoming the sunlight, and blue cushions echo the ocean’s hue, perfectly complementing the cool-toned grey sofa. This serene area becomes an ideal backdrop for cosy movie nights and peaceful moments, mirroring the harmony of the sea.

DINING ROOM
For family meals and feasts with friends

Stylist’s Note: Warm and simple, the dining room is designed for family meal times and when friends come together. Echoing the artwork in the living room, Chinese-inspired artwork adorns the main wall, adding depth and a touch of heritage. The arrangement of a bench alongside individual seating fosters a more casual atmosphere, inviting lively conversations and merging traditional aesthetics with practical entertaining needs.

BEDROOMS
Sanctuaries for play and relaxation

Moving upstairs, each child’s bedroom reflects their unique character and hobbies. The eldest’s love for reading and piano is catered to with a wall of shelves for her books and space for melodies. Her sister’s artistic and musical talents inspire a colourful, vibrant room with a pull-out bed for when friends come to stay. The youngest, starting his first year in primary school, loves the colour blue and is fond of toy cars. Therefore, we optimised his room for play, featuring a loft bed to maximise his adventure space.

The master bedroom was designed to be Kelly’s ultimate serene retreat. With an exquisite L-shaped window view from Hong Kong Gold Coast on Castle Peak Road, the room overlooks the yacht club in all its serene beauty. Its design is intentionally airy and straightforward, hosting a king-size bed, a dresser, and a corner with two armchairs. Perfect for peaceful mornings spent indulging in the sunrise and a cup of tea, it embodies the height of relaxation.
