Melissa's home

ABOUT THE CUSTOMER

Melissa is a friendly and family oriented client who is really great to collaborate with. It was fun and easy to bounce ideas with her as she was open to sharing and accepting new thoughts.

We are so happy to be able to create this lovely space in which Melissa and  her family can enjoy while we spend most of the time at home working and chilling.

Place: Beconfield's Court, Hong Kong, with a breathtaking mountain-view.

Style: Modern transitional

Location: Shouson Hill, Hong Kong

Melissa and her family had been living in Hong Kong for a while. They have been in the Midlevels apartment which was comparatively smaller. With the kids growing up, and spending more time indoors nowadays, they decided to move to this duplex flat with a nice big terrace. With more space, they had to figure out how to decorate nicely, while keeping the personality of the home that fits them.

This was our favorite spot. It was a transitional space between the open kitchen and the great open terrace.

It was originally an empty space with a long table that just served a functional purpose but cut up the space. We decided to replace everything with a kitchen island and dark cabinets that contrasted the flooring and the great natural light that streamed in.

The result was a space where you start your day with breakfast, spend alone time, or a buffet area for summer parties!

It was obvious we needed to create the space in a way that complements the beautiful side window with all the greenery outside.

Therefore, we chose to put more organic elements in this dining room with the wooden dining table as the centre of the room. We also paired it with a sideboard with some texture to it, and with high legs so as to keep the vibe airy and not steal attention from the dining table.

The result is a dining room where guests naturally want to sit and stay.

the living space

Envelopes its guests

In the living room, we kept Melissa's existing sofa and styled around it. We wanted to keep it relatively neutral coloured but with accents of dark colours with a certain continuity built-in. Melissa has an active family and loved to host friends. So we created the living room using the L-shaped, round nesting coffee tables, armchair, and a rug to set a space that envelops its guests. We also decided on a really interesting sideboard to put behind the sofa, so guests will feel comfortable and casual even if they're behind the sofa, interacting with the artwork, pictures and other objects.
